I've travelled thru Assinaboia a couple of times and it's a decent sized town with most services you need. The municipal campground could be better cared for. I was there Aug 2011 and the shower facilities were in bad need of a visit by cleaning staff. Instead of cutting grass for an hour the boys could have cleaned up the facilities while campers were trying to sleep at 7.00am.. BTW who cuts grass in a campground and park at 7.00am??

@184186 Who? indeed. Seems that perhaps some oversight is required in that department. I, too, have camped in that campground on a couple of occasions. I wasn't blown awake by lawn-mowers, but did get to listen to the music of Saturday night tires on pavement until the wee hours. The disadvantage of a centrally-located campground. The pool was nice, tho. And the showers, so important to touring bikies, were fine. I guess it depends on who is hired for the summer.
