I wish Pierce had gotten the Bond role in the 80s instead of Timothy Dalton

@matt6517 I agree. Also, Pierce Brosnan was suppose to take up the mantle after Roger Moore but he had to decline due to his obligation to Remington Steele (the TV show he was working on at the time). As much as I like Timothy Dalton's portrayal, I've always wondered how Brosnan would have handled TLD and LTK.

Timothy Dalton IS in fact, Fleming's Bond (agree with you, Dave7oddjob). I'd say, to a degree, Connery did it twice, in Dr. No and From Russia with Love. The rest just developed a spy-movie-star wave. I know the series were fun to watch, but the Bond character turned far-away from the one created by Fleming. The injection of humor and gadgets changed it all––that's why some people have the wrong idea of what a real 007 story is about. Craig practically picked up what Dalton left.

@TheRAMOS89 I wouldnt say darker, but definetly more dramatic. I just had a tough time watching the Dalton ones
Sean Bean, who played Alec Trevelyan in this movie, actually originally auditioned for the part of Bond. I'm glad Pierce got it, but I'd still be interested to see how he'd approach the part.

@Dave7oddjob Timothy Daltton IS Ian Fleming's James Bond because he stayed true to the character, while the other actors except Craig didint, and Dalton was the first actor to play a darker bond.
