@berhorst59 correct on your comment. the whole meaning of truck spreading is so you dont have to use a rake

who had to shovel/rake the first 50 feet that he spread W A Y to thick. not the driver, im guessing. all in all, that's pretty pathetic job of spreading

@truckingsonofagun What Vulcan you used to haul for? I used to run out of the Manassas, VA plant. Spreading/tailgating is very easy to do once you get used to it with or without chains set. I used to haul FOB loads for the company I worked for and just about every load was to a spread load.

@truckingsonofagun What Vulcan quarry you haul for? I used to run for the Manassas, VA plant in the mid atlantic region. Also, used to do FOB loads for the company I worked for. Spreading/tailgating is easy to do with or without chains set once you get used to it.

Just chain the tailgate and ease forward and there you have it. Granted, that driver knows how to do it. But it's not rocket science. If you want to be impressive, do it in reverse.
