I think he's married and has kids. He is kind of shy---I heard him on David Dye's World Cafe the other day and he was asked about this song. He's never met her and didn't write it to meet her--its sort of an homage to her as a fellow musician. He thinks she's an amazing drummer. He was actually embarassed to be asked about it.

Ray kicks ass, and thanks for complimenting the vid! None of the ushers seemed to care if you were filming anything. I probably could have set up a tripod and filmed the whole show... if I didn't think that was a douche-y thing to do.
