A b'ak'tun is about 394.3 of our years and the Long Cycle Calendar never loops or ends. It was used to mark monuments. TBH you can argue till your face is blue about 2012 as an event or as a time of change. As an event well I mean the US GDP is no as of this year < than our debt's sustaining allows. We are a mess as a species, but the earth is fine. Solutions are forth-coming, many have been with us for a long time. There is plenty of food and space for everyone when millions of years of evolution are respected, but what of science? Is longevity a good idea to create greater solutions within a new generational manifest to solve those that still burden us, strapped to our shorter lifespans? What would Einstein have offered humanity had he lived longer?
