@R384149 30M1As as in 30 M1 trains or 30 M1 cars left, thus there are only 3 M1 trains in service?
-
i do too...Look at my page I have many dating back to 1980.....Mostly express trains

I think the m7s can go as fast as the m1s but I think they dont decide to go very fast because they sway a lot and if they go the same speed as the trains in this video, then the train will derail because of swaying

I think they are for Wassaic
-
then again when i heard recently, they only have 2 sets of m1's left on LIRR property and theyre gonna be sent to museums. the 1st 2 m1's delivered to the LIRR are not around anymore because they were in such bad shape

In Sept 07 I saw M1A train operating on the Harlem. The MN m3a all have rectangular windows, while the LIRR M3 have the M1 square windows making it less easy to distingush which is which. I saw square window M1A cars in service on the Harlem.

actually when i asked a conductor, he said that there are still some lirr m1's paired onto m3 trains but seeing that is very rare
That is a southbound on track #2 - so this train would be headed to GCT. Excellent capture of the compressor sounds - which are unique to the M1A's as even the M3A's are lightly different! As of 5/10/2007 there was still one 8-car train of M1As running around, last night on the Hudson line on 769.
