I like his analogy. In my quest to catch fish for my G-rated shock value basket, I turn to old fairy tales. To expand the waters, I go to the more obscure tales. I'm very slow at reading so it does require a lot of patience.
Sometimes I think I'm digging for ideas like archaeologists dig for artifacts. That's the analogy I usually use. Got to go through quite a few disappointing books before finding a gem.
He's right. Another important point is that it's difficult to catch great ideas if your fatigued. When the mind is really awake you can catch potato cod ideas--massive! TM definitely helps in that respect.
