Not only the air pollution, but the constant 24/7 noise pollution from construction of the stage and the tent have kept us up all night. The whole event of building and take-down would be about one month (unlike what the name Fashion "Week" would imply) Heavy machineries beeping, men banning on metal frames with sledge hammers, and death hums of large diesel generators are just some of the things we have to put up with. On top of it, Fordham University's noisy construction is making neighbors very angry. Repeated calls to 311 for after-hour construction did nothing to improve the situation. Fashion Week organizers, PLEASE, keep your words of making the event green.
Pollution from one of 9 diesel generators used to power New York Fashion Week 2011 at Lincoln Center. The shocking amount of toxic smokes that spewed out would seem to break the laws and to cause serious environmental-health harms to the densely populated Manhattan neighborhood. However, the polluters did not in fact violate any existing laws according to the city's Department of Environmental Protection. The IMG Fashion that produces Fashion Week and the diesel generator owner Aggreko were legally free to do what they have done with no consequence. This video showed a stark contrast to what Fashion Week's marketing effort on its supposed commitment to going green.
You people are out of your mind, that was a cold start and yeah they smoke a little bit on a cold start, got any video of it actually running with load... I would venture to say no...

That is a 1250 KW genset. The original owner of that unit got out of the rental business because they said "it was not in thier environmental playbook". So they sold the company to this Global company that begins with an "A", so they could pollute.
