The Cars were a relatively new band from Boston when they made an appearance at the Spectrum in Philadelphia in 1979. Lead singer, Ric Ocasek sat down with Rock Reporter, Cyndy Drue for this report that aired on Eyewitness News, KYW-3. The Cars have reunited after many years with a new album and tour that included a date in Philadelphia May 22, 2011. Their new CD is called "Move Like This."

@PresidentGas1, no, they were instantly all over the radio, with big hits. Did it take classic rock holdouts a while to appreciate them, and get used to "new wave" on the radio? yes. I know, I was one.

@tacomadc Sorry you're pretty much wrong. They were certainly not an insta hit. I can recall in Northern Calif. how they were despised for quite some time until acceptance took over. The band themselves even refers to this when asked about it.

They were such a massive insta hit band. Brilliant., just like Pretenders and Tom Petty were at the same time.
