Sheldon does have feelings.he has been shown to be a very emotional person at times, when it comes to himself. He just doesn't understand the feelings of other people. he lacks empathy.

@dadoctah but the disobeying might be because he believe's they will harm themselves or he will harm them if he obeys. so maybe not totaly outgeeked yet :P

OK, now that's just impressive. Way to catch them in their inconsistency. I'm pretty certain that for the sake of humor, the Second Law was overlooked. Howard was probably just trying to mess with Sheldon (which is apparently quite easy to do).
Regardless, way to not forget to be awesome.

Poor Sheldon. They're just playing with him!

@peterfinnfilms Nice job, I forgot about that one. That's the second time he does it; it turns out Kirk does it four times total, not two. The first time is when they confront Landru; the second is the one you mentioned; the third is when they encounter Harry Mudd again; and the fourth is when a computer is set up to run the Enterprise.
Sheldon can't be a robot. Howard conveniently skipped over Asimov's *Second* Law, which states "A robot must obey any orders given to it by human beings, except where such orders would conflict with the First Law."
We've seen Sheldon on any number of occasions blatantly disobey direct commands from other people.
Mind you, the writers exhibit impressive geek cred most of the time. But in this episode (and a couple of later ones), I outgeeked 'em.
