Today we are going to show you part number AS-551 from Bully. What we have here is Bullys adjustable tailgate hitch step. This is a nice device to install on your hitch if you need to get on top of your vehicle or to be easier simply to climb onto your tailgate. You cannot go wrong with this product. We will start off with the construction of this component. It is very nice. It has got mild steel and it is powder coated, and also the step itself is stainless steel. So there is not any possibility that rust will get on there. It is also easily adjustable on the length.

Right now it is in the retracted position. Now we will just turn it a little bit. And when you want to use it you pull up on the step. It slides out - all the way out - and then it falls back down. And there is this little locking knob right here that keeps it from moving anywhere. And it is also adjustable from left to right. We are looking at the bottom, so basically what happens is you pull on this knob here and this would spin around in your hitch to whatever direction you need. Now we will go ahead and just show it in actual practice.

We are going to demonstrate how it works. It is pretty easy. You use a standard 2-inch pin and clip. You could also use a locking pin and clip if you would like. You can actually use it right now in the way it is oriented. You simply pick it up and pull it out and then if you are working around the tailgate you simply pull that lever and slide it into whatever position you need. I think you can see we have a minivan situation, but it is great to go ahead and reach up if you have got a roof rack and a carrier and a cargo bag up there or something - it is real easy to reach it with. And for guys with pickups, it will be a lot helpful to climb into the back of your pickup with your tailgate down. Step to go into it or simply just step on itself and just reach over the tailgate when you need something real fast. i don't like those types of pins, bought a hitch plug and the clip disappeared and the plug was expensive but lucky i didn't lose the plug so i would not use that type of pin.
