The Pelham Alliance, an alliance of Greenville SC homeowners and residents, has created a first: A unique, comedy television commercial in the battle against Wal Mart's attempt to build one of their super centers in a high density residential and business area already over-burdened by traffic.

Created by Michael O'McCarthy, the National Picture Company, the commercial uses local stage star and satirist Susan Smith as Norma Jean of the Cafe and Then Some to warn residents of the danger of the establishment of the Super Center in their eco-sensitive neighborhood.

The 30 second TV commercial stars Norma Jean holding her dead Tweety Bird which is killed by exhaust fumes where one Wal Mart has been established and her move to the targeted Pelham neighborhood with her new friend Polly the Parrot. It reveals the dangers of unplanned growth as allowed by the local government, the Greenville County Council, and suggests that it will get even worse if the BIG BOX enterprise is permitted to operate in that neighborhood.

  • @METALMAN4Wii Wal-Mart is not forcing its employees to work at Wal-Wart. How does Wal-Mart hire people? People APPLY! People willingly work there! If Wal-Mart was not there, those employees would not have the opportunity.

  • @justinrixx Why don't you watch the high cost of low prices movie on youtube. I think you'll go from this :D to this O_O...!

  • Respectfully - Walmart and their critics can scrutinize the histories and policies for legal evidence, instead of the sometimes awful behavior in political campaigns of Democrat versus Republican.

Can Rob Walton a lawyer and the leader of Walmart with their supporters and associations such as The American Legislative Exchange Council disprove and debunk their critics?

Walmart and alike may comment, it is unnecessary to explain our culture corporate responsibilities to our critics.

  • People driving bye are like WTF is this?!

  • I like Walmart. I can get stuff for cheap there :D

  • What the hell was that? I know walmart customers always appear to be a little "off" but that didn't even make sense.

  • what?

  • No that was Susan Smith (not the murder) who performs at the Cafe and Then Some in Greenville, SC
