Blairs slick pretense to be an almost Thatcherite hardliner and Murdoch style populist, gave Brown space after a respectably restrained first term, to spend up big on the outdated employment oriented NHS, education, outdated hospitals and social workers. I totally agree. People are so quick to forget all the good that Tony Blair did. The anti-Iraq War arguments are pretty weak (even though in the past I have fallen into that trap). The only argument against Mr. Blair with any merit is the possibility that he might have been complicit in torture. Apart from that, he was a VERY good Prime Minister.
