Well, you see, the banana actually serves as a metaphor for the quest of the protagonist. The banana represents his soul, the microwave is the constant fiery sting of disappointment, and Aaron is essentially God, who frees him from his struggle (microwave) in order to reconsume him into God's spiritual realm (stomach).
