  • @tmqfilms when ma deuce speaks, everyone in a cone of 150° dies.

  • Mhmhhmmmhmh, sweet.

  • @SuperRegisteredUser There's as much of a European identity as there is an American identity. A .50 cal in the right applications can accomplish just as much (if not more) than a missile can.

  • @karinosai There's no such thing as a European identity. Anyhow, I that soldiers want a weapon they feel confident behind and commanders want them to have a weapon that can accomplish much on the battlefield (which a missile can).

  • @SuperRegisteredUser Just because you're confident behind a Starstreak launcher doesn't mean it's the best tool for the job, either. Your entire argument in the beginning was to trash the M2 and call it "useless". You're still blinded by the mentality of "I'M A EUROPEAN, HE'S AN AMERICAN, I HAVE TO BE RIGHT!"

Something "in between" would have been the XM307. Unfortunately, as far as I know, that was cancelled because it supposedly didn't fire fast enough.

  • @karinosai This whole argument is really based on the fundamental difference of the American and Swedish army. In the Swedish army officers and higher ups decide what equipment is best for the over all goals and in the American army they seem to listen more on the soldiers. Of course you need something in between (just because you are confident behind an M2 doesn't mean it's the best for solving the mission).

  • @SuperRegisteredUser True, but one malfunction disables 1/4 of your firepower, whereas with the M2, in all likelihood, you can rip the charging handle back, remove anything causing the jam, such as a stovepipe, FTF, or FTE, and continue firing losing 1-2 rounds out of the 100 or so just in the box you have attached.

  • @karinosai Yes and a vehicle with 4 starstreak will have greater chance of getting out alive since there is less shit that can happen (it has greater chance of taking out the target than a few bursts of M2 fire and it's in a sealed tube). A sealed tube can malfunction, but it's more likely an M2 malfunctions than 4 sealed tube malfunction at the same time.

  • @SuperRegisteredUser Suppressing fire is inferior to "defeating" fire that doesn't defeat. Sometimes the best you can do with what you have is keep them from shooting at you. You aren't accounting for the fact that in a war, shit happens.

A lot of shit happens, and shit happens fast.

  • @karinosai Suppressing fire is always inferior to defeating fire. The training is way less. In our army they use a reflex sight on the M2 which require lots of training to understand (such as how to lead moving targets).
