There's an English patch out there for the original King's Field. I beat it once. I used save states, but it was a pretty good game with a fun challenge, despite being fairly short and crude (feels more like a prototype, not as polished)

you may be interested in the original Wizardry on Apple II. That's what I'm playing now in emulation. I speed up the emulator a little bit, but otherwise I don't cheat.
It's a lot of fun.

The elder scroll series blows the kings field games out of the water, but the kings field games are good. Elder scrolls came out before kings field.

@Spirit3188 This game is awesome, its not meant to be shown at parties because its a VIDEO GAME lol you do things like drink or play something that involves multiple people at a party. But yeah this was a very advanced game at its time so I appreciate it more.

Kings Field and Kings Field 2 are the best games I've ever played. It does take a little time to get used to and I started with kf2 and HATED it at first, until I got fire magic, and then after it was pure love. I don't think it is the type of game you can show off at parties because it takes some time to get immersed into the world, but it is well worth checking out. Truly what many of these RPGS SHOULD have been. Take care and thanks for the KF love. PS. I make games.

Hmm, I made a response but I guess youtube ate it. The main projects I have worked on is Last Man Standing Co-op for Doom 3 and Platinum Arts Sandbox, which makes it easy for people to make their own games. I am planning to do a KF like RPG at some point but first things first. Have you played KF2? Its just as good as the first if not better. Too bad kf4 wasn't better, but it wasn't THAT bad. I got kings field 2 in 2000 and i love it. I didnt like it at first just like you but then it ruled when i got to the battlefield right after the first area
