Extremely lucky deck hand - being outside the chopper is always dangerous but deadly when the blades are dancing. And running across the front plane of the rotor can also be fatal. Out of a million two copter passengers delivered to GOM facilities in 2010 there were only seven accidents and two fatalities.

@TheEnddays2009 The pilot didn't try to lift off, look at the size of the swell, the boat fell away from the chopper. The pilot knew there was a guy behind him by the tail rotor and tried giving him the best chance of survival by lifting off after the chopper fell forward, then once the tailrotor got damaged he was forced to dump the collective, minimising torque and sort of controlling the spin. They are so lucky they are all alive and the helicopter is in one piece. Now to change T/R and boom
