I have narcolepsy with cataplexy as well. If it weren't for Xyrem, I wouldn't be able to function, hold a job, or drive. Thank you for putting this out there. It helps to explain to others what life is like without medication.

Thank you so much for sharing your story. As a medical student, these public videos are an amazing resource that depicts disease through the patient, leaving me with a stronger understanding of what a disease truly is. Your willingness to share your medical history is very much appreciated, especially in a time where everyone is afraid of everyone else knowing some of their medical history. Please take care of yourself and continue to surround yourself with amazing, caring friends. - - Matthew

Thanks for all your videos, I started noticing uncontrollable urges to sleep when I was about 16 while working, I would have to go lay down and take a nap in the store office. I also developed sleep paralysis within that time, I have started waking seeing my dreams, hallucinating and it looks very real. I do not have cataplexy (yet) and do not pass out right away I just feel overwhelmingly sleepy, it is mild so far but it causes irritability I must say.
I so understand what you're going through, but try and keep a cool head about it. I know it's hard but that's the best way to cope with this I have found. Best of luck...
