@spirit774 When the NHTSB and the Federal Government say they're trucks I guess I have to call them trucks. Like you, that's not what I consider a truck but it is what it is. The Federal Bumper Standard for 2.5 mph bumpers only applies to passenger cars and they consider pickup trucks, SUVs and Mini Vans trucks and are excluded from the 2.5 mph federal bumper requirements. Lots of SUVs on the highway today without frame rails but they're considered trucks. Frame has nothing to do with it.

@saintbumper Mini vans are not considered trucks, and don't even try to say otherwise. They have no frame and are considered a car.
And jeeps are POS, so what they do is no surprise. When i say truck, i mean a truck.

@spirit774 The Center for Auto Safety is demanding the government recall 2.2 million Jeep Grand Cherokees, model years 1993 through 2004. The Center says that at least 55 people have died in crashes where fire was "the most harmful factor." Clarance Ditlow said the problem is that the fuel tank is located behind the rear axle. Not all tanks are protected and pickup trucks, SUVs and mini vans are considered "trucks".

@saintbumper i don't know how you came up with this puckup truck fire problem. Maybe its imported trucks, because american trucks don't have a gas tank an the rear of the truck. Its ALWAYS between the wheels, and inside the frame, with a skid plate over it normally. The spare tire is behind the rear axle next to the bumper.

So it's designed to work in case of low speed crashes, specially when people park their car. So now tell me if I'm wrong, but this product is designed for people who are not able to park, and instead of learning how to park they should install this "bumper" so that they can keep parking, without damaging their car any-more, but the other's cars yes !......

Nice !

@saintbumper Good to know there's ONE thing the government won't regulate
The SUVs with the shattered rear windows have the spare tire mounted on the rear. It the spare tire is hit it crushes the end gate and blows out the rear window. In some cases the spare will also pull the sides together and blow out the side windows.

It was designed for the rear end collision. Protecting your vehicle from people who cannot park is another benefit. But if you have a vehicle with one of these and you haven't figured out how to park yet then you need to go practice.
