  • wow after seeing that its making me think otherwise to hammer my s2000 around.. :( now im scared mines going to go lol oh well easy driving until i forgot i ever saw this video. i do lots of clutch dumps though thank god nothings happend..

  • dude trust me if your going to be dumping it. lookin into a comptech diff or if you have the extra cash, the puddydaddy diff.

i only took it out on back roads, thats the hardest level the car was driven is like in that video.

Not sure how the last owner took care of it though:(

  • that was actually not the diff but the CV axel. i should know i went through about 9 when i use to slide the S. I am very use to that sound. haha

  • dude if you saw what was left of the pinion you wouldnt believe it. it sheered half the teech off one side. :(

  • Wow..I drive a wrx so I'm aware of how fragile the trannies could be, but i had absolutely no idea that s2k's suffered from anything closely and remotely similar to this problem. i thought you could clutchdump/quickshift/etc with ease, it was just an all out fun go cart. What am i missing? Fill me in on some of the downfalls of it.

  • the end caps on the diff housing break due to the bolts being prone to stretching as well. the comptech uses stronger bolts and end caps. the s2000 trans is strong. its just the actual housing on the rear end.

  • In case you haven't been keeping up with current events, the American car industry is in the crapper. Must be because they make such great cars, huh? Sorry to all the domestic fanboys but now is not the time to claim American automotive superiority unless you're trying to make a joke.

  • he means he never dumped the clutch...always smooth launches

  • @oziumzx hahaha true right there. Posting for bail n crap. Was gonna get a camaro but gonna stick with a honda :)

  • Guy below me knows nothing... how'd you check everything but don't know what a differential. Wow, inlinePRO sells a nice kit so you don't blow the stock pumpkin

  • Was the differential? final gear? bearings? housing?

Cause my S make same noise now and i cannot see what's happened.

My final gear is perfect, the bearings sound really good. Maybe is the differential...

  • @DtoWnSux1 i didn't upgrade it, just got a used diff case with the diff in it from a local used parts dealer and swaped the case myself, cost me 700 canadian dollars, also noticed 1 of the 4 bushings the diff case is mounted to is cracked so that is my next repair, maybe next month when i have some time.

  • @S2000fred expensive to upgrade it so it wont ever happen again?? let me know please

  • this happened to me yesterday...........damn it sucks....

  • This car probably was a factory flaw.

  • gear box !!! off !

  • lol

  • this is why i dont like buying used cars
