Wrong.... $38,000 in 1938, would be about $650,000 in today's money. This is according to the CPI. (consumer price index).

I think she is beautiful. Fred Mac Murry is soooo cute. They really look striking together! Tall, dark and handsome with petite , blonde and beautiful.,.. The classic , romantic effect of masculine and feminine that the movie makers of today do not understand

This is a classic film, with superb acting, but I must be in the minority when it comes to Barbara Stanwyck.
While she does a decent job of acting she's not believable as a cheap blond. I don't find her sexually attractive in the least. The director should have told her to ditch the dishpan blond look and go with her natural hair. It adds nothing to the character.
