The burp heard at the end of the recording was that of the recorder, Jim Hall, who had just eaten dinner and was kind enough to hurry out and take pictures of the first moose I was priveleged to see on my property.
After the burp, Jim said he and his were going home and I said," wait, wait, see what happens when I throw this apple for him to eat." When it bounced about 6 feet from him, he decided he was not going to risk any other projecticles and quickly galloped away.
