Wow, very nice! As long as they don't change anything else (like that ill-faited orchesetral version of MCTYW) then they'll be all right.

This is truly beautiful. I like the swooshing sounds and all of the nice sound effects associated with the graphics. I know this is old now, but this is really nice.

Cake studios made the new opener and I think they did the other updates too.

You know, I think they may have made the ABC logo red to blend in with the graphics, as the Action News graphics used around 1997 (when the logo was modified to have the ABC circle) had red stripes.

@HulkieG Got it. I'm sure it'll grow on me quickly; I generally hate any sort of change to something I love, but if it's truly good, I'll come to love it.

@ariw2003net I think the lower thirds are brilliant. I think news graphic design has kind of stagnated a bit and the Jeopardy-esque "bubbles" are a refreshing change. Especially for 6, which more or less used the same lower third design for 12 years.
There's a lot of little touches I love in the graphics too. Like "THE BIG STORY" appearing in not only the OTS, but the lower thirds and doubleboxes as well. It means there was a level of care put into these, which I appreciate.

I'd kinda like to hear a swooshing sound as the Action News logo flies on the screen in the open, that would be neat, but over-all this is very impressive.

@ctmajka It's not there, but there's swooshing noises for everything else.
Literally.
When a lower third appears, there's a noise. When the OTS animates, there's a noise. It gets annoying after the fifth time and I kind of hope they come to their senses and tone that down a bit.

Am I correct in assuming that this was not solely an in house graphics update?

@FOXSportsFan You're correct. It looks like 6 went back to Giant Octopus, judging by the similarity to their older GO package as well as other recent GO work. I think it might be some of their best stuff in years, but that's helped by 6 having a really really good in-house graphics team.
