Gay pride parades have been commonplace in western countries for decades, but this is only the third one for the Indian capital -- and it is the first such event since an Indian court decriminalized homosexuality last year. Attendees say that decision has made it safer to live as a homosexual, bisexual, or transgender Indian, ending years of police harassment and changing attitudes on the street.

  • Congratulations to all LGBT Indians. I salute you for your courage & positive attitude. When we had our first Gay Pride Parade here in San Francisco in the late 1970s it didn't look much different from yours. Without the brave few gay individuals (especially the drag queens) who risk everything by coming out of the closet and marching in the streets, there could be no advances in Gay Rights. Take heart and keep your courage: you are blazing a trail for those of us not yet even born. BRAVO!

  • I welcome Delhi Highcourt Verdict

  • We have a long way to go before society truly accepts the LGBT populace. The HC judgment last year is just a drop in the ocean. But atleast people are talking about it. It's not been brushed under the carpet unlike for the past many decades.

We need to keep our fight for the acceptance of LGBT people full on. We don't want EXTRA rights, we just want EQUAL rights. CONSENTING ADULTS must have the freedom to love each other without fear.

    Deep

  • Go India...

    hugs
