  • I can offer pastured,hormone free,antibiotic free beef for about $3-3.50lb.Subsidies do not "protect the American food supply".Food does not "become expensive".Its a bad thing to be dependent on just a few distant suppliers rather than many local small farms.

  • I farm without subsidies.I dont get rich.I have a very small acreage and I sell to a small market in a CSA(community supported agriculture) program.Subsidy programs wipe out small farms and encourage factory farming.-factoryfarm org

  • Subsidies are there to protect the American food supply, without subsidies - many Americans could not afford to farm and price ceilings could not be held - food would become expensive. It would also be a bad thing for a country to become too dependent on others for food...
