This is the fare you used to hear on Easy Listening/Beautiful Music stations. Absolute gem by Mancini and the chorus.

I have great memories, although I was quite young, of going to see this film at the magnificent State movie palace in Sydney, Australia. Films like this have long since gone but fortunately the State survives. In those days the characters were still real people even if the situations weren't - these days everythig seems fake, especially the so called actors!!

@SirBasildeBrush it's Henry Mancini style. :)

@UberWolfGeist this is not Jazz .... it is contemporary music for the mid 60's... big band musi as they used to call it... best music ever made.... back in those days there was Big bands and they played music like this ... it was truly historical...

This song is so...dark.

One of the coolest movie credit sequences ever. And such a beautiful song too. Of course, pretty much anything Mancini made was beautiful...
I've always loved this song. Johnny Mercer's lyrics were among his best. This song has one of the most beautiful "bridge" melodies ever written, beginning with "Fate seemed to pull the strings..." I first saw this film in a double feature with "Lillies of the Field" starring Sidney Poitier. Perhaps the greatest double-feature I have ever seen. Charade had everything: Beautiful Parisian scenery, costuming, witty dialogue and a gripping Hitchcock-like suspense story.

@dgnoela Just seeing this on a cinema screen would be a dream, never mind as a double feature...

@Guitardreams182 It's rather unique, but maybe leaning towards "lounge".
