This week's programme reports on appalling violence against women in South Africa, the trafficking of women in Lithuania for sex, and inequality in Sweden, where foreign-born wives can find themselves thrown out of their home - and the country. Five years after the Beijing Women's Conference, there's still a long way to go.

  • I think some women leaders would do a much better job than some men that are doing so much damage to the world. Blessings +++ The Saint +++

  • Dunno, wasn't it a female leader in India who supported the rounding up and sterilisation of males in ghetto areas as a form of population control? Sex doesn't indicate strong or weak, good or bad, fair or unjust.

  • yeah but there's an imbalance worldwide between females in positions of government authorities. you think they would traffick women so much if some of the leading leaders are women. the penalties would be harsher. then again corruption knows no sex, people enact such evils because they are people.

  • don't you have Hispanics or mentally ill to berate?

  • you're right
