This is a fox bark in a park near our back yard. When I first heard this years ago at 2:00 am I thought it was a child in trouble.

  • Is this NOVA? Been hearing a lot of calls at night around the house wondering what it may be.

  • Yes, it is. Since construction in our area, fox and deer have moved into our area. They did rid us of possum, racoons and rabbits however.

  • I've been hearing this noise for years around my home in PA. I always thought it was some sort of nocturnal bird but never a fox. Thanks for putting an end to the mystery!

  • excellent howling

  • I hear this a lot in the summer, sounds really freaky 50ft from your door. Saw the fox once while making the noise, mystery solved. He actually seemed to be taunting my dog.

  • I thought the same thing as well. I was just watching tv and the porch door was open and I thought someone was getting murdered.

  • There's all sorts of wildlife looming around the Beltway!

  • It sounds like a defensive cry.

  • Spent a few nights with my parents in Fredericksburg. Va. woke up 1 night to this sound outside the window, I opend the door for a moment thought was a woman screamming. Now i'm sure it was a fox , something scurried away in the bushes didn't get to actually see it

  • I heard that sound VERY loud outside my door last night. It woke me from a dead sleep with my heart pounding! We're near Fredericksburg.

  • @IndigoCat17 yeah it is a bark i would recognize the howl. howls are a little longer and not as frequent, along with higher pitched than a wolf
