Il Posto - Amore

1961 Italian film directed by Ermanno Olmi. Part of the Neorealism movement, exploring the dehumanizing practices of the corporate world told through the eyes of a teenager forced to leave school and home to search for a job in the city (Milan). Brilliantly realized with outstanding black and white lighting and framing. Olmi used non-actors and his years of experience shooting in-house documentaries for the Italian electric agency. With almost no budget, Olmi "borrowed" equipment from that job to pull off this film and launch his career as a movie director. He married the love interest in this movie.
