Is shredded paper a good bedding?
-
edit: we use wood chips to be more exact, NOT saw dust.. also i disagree with using towels or pee pads.. its just as bad as training them to pee or poop on their bedding.. even grass clippings are better...

our family shows and occasionally breeds, we dont use saw dust but wood shavings from pet stores or the local tack supply store. it doesnt cost much and is very absorbent.. we also use the wood chips for our adults. its a very easy clean up with the wood chips. if they "poop" then the wood will stick to it and then you can just scoop it up. we do have a separate bedding only area that the puppies get used to sleeping in, this bedding area is separated from the potty area by a barrier. thx

Do not go here. The worst experience I have ever had deling with anyone. The guy is a real jerk.. Advertises 7 days. Mine took a month and they would not even give me a tracking numver. Nasty and rude emails to boot

I found a box by BreederBase you can actually KEEP sanitary in the long run.

Go to WHELPING BOX STORE for a much better setup for your dogs. Do not try to build one yourself.

if a gerbil or hamster can survive it surelyy... surely a canine should be able to, otherwise i'd ask myself some serious questions about the health of my puppies.
besides cleanliness is vital.. i've seen some breeders not using the sawdust and their puppies were walking around in shit and piss.. an area ripe for infections and desease

How cute! Chubby little babies.
I was wondering why do you suggest TREATED saw dust? Whats the benifit?
I am actually going to use saw dust for the potty area, see how that works, great video.

iF you have a bit more to say to me say it don't put it above my comment!! of corse your dogs would be bigger at 10 weeks old as they are a bigger breed but WTF has that got to do with what i said???so you think of your self a top breeder then?? why don't you just big yourself up a bit while your at it lmao.
It continues to sadden me the lack of knowledge/education of many apparent breeders. You can see clearly from the clip the pups are happy and doing well. The sawdust used is the same sawdust used in hamster, gerbil, guinepigs, rabbits, ferrets, chicken, horse stables, pigs shed, goat shed and many many more animals. They all do very well on it and so do my pups.

I'm a dog breeder of EBT and you should never use saw dust of any kind treated or untreated as it can be very harmful to the pupies,ie it get's in ther eyes up there noses and i could go on and on,best just to use old towels or even paper of some kind, but each to there own i only think what is best for my pups not what is easier for me.

The litter in this clip are 2 plus years old and all doing brilliantly. The EBT is a breed I know well as adults they are not as big as an 10 week old CAO. Sawdust is used by many top breeders it is hygienic soft and a good grip base for when pups start trying to walk.

NEVER USE TREATED WOOD FOR ANY KIND OF DOG , chemicals in the treated wood. these chemicals may be harmful to your dog. SAW DUST TOO , IT IS STILL TREATED ,

All I can say to you is we all have strategies and mine works perfect for me,. I have been to so many breeder homes that basically stink of piss and shit I can not and will not live like that my pups are clean at all times and so is my home. The CAO is a hardy breed and I am sorry to say but once again it proves my point about these modern day breeds that will apparently choke to death because they are put on to sawdust it is actually laughable.

I also had my puppies in the Frontroom, but I never used sawdust,at 3.5 weeks old I put training pads in their box,I used a comfy soft towel, and the puppies would crawl to the wee pad,I wouldn't use saw dust, and I often checked the towels before they had the wee pads, and the towel wasn't wet,mom did her job and cleaned them sort of speak
But it is best to keep puppies inside,in sight,I breed maltese
Great Job,just not so crazy about saw dust...
I never used newspaper,never will

Thank you for your post. Maltese breeder very nice breed. I would say that if you had pups the size of CAO pups then you could not have got away with what you did with towels and wee pads. secondly one 6 week old pup will pee the quantity of 3/4 maltese adults and i had 8 pups so when you look at it from this view only sawdust could do. also not at 3/4 weeks old a CAO pup is bigger than a maltese adult Take care and all the best with your dogs
