2 X 40,000 lb. Die Change Rail Car Features:
major components: floor rails, rail car, push/pull stand, and bolster extensions
style: two station rail car on flush with floor tracks
frame: structural steel weldment
capacity: two dies weighing up to 40,000 lbs. each
rail car drive: air powered gearmotor to thru-axle rail wheel assemblies
operator position: on rider platform with dead-man footswitch during rail car travel;
behind push/pull unit during die exchange
car travel control: forward/reverse variable speed control via manual actuator valve
shot pin lock/release rocker switch on panel at rider platform
car travel speed: up to 20 fpm (maximum limit adjustable per customer preference)
car location: visual alignment final location held by cylinder actuated shot pins
car retention: shot pin at each station engages push/pull base to prohibit car drift
car power: shop air at 80 psi and 200 scfm via 75 hose reel included on car
one 1-1/2 Ross Lockout valve with muffler is included (more as option)
air supply source: from under pit cover of scrap conveyor
transfer height: fixed at approx. 27 (same as press, floor to bolster surface)
car mobility: (2) dual flange, (2) flat steel wheel assemblies to match GVMI flush track
load deck: three rows of Hilman rollers on 18 centers (F-B) on each station
die location on deck: due to random sizes, SCMP responsible for visual alignment L-R and F-B
press access: fixed bridge bolster extensions to fill 7-8 gap between press and car
with 36 pivoting section on each extension to allow personnel access

push/pull: powered dual Serapid rigid chain system attached to scrap conveyor
cover plate, provides single stroke die insertions or extractions
push/pull chain magazine: mounted vertically extending approx. 10 above the floor
push/pull reach: approx. 15 across shuttle station, bolster extensions and into press
die/chain connection: powered end-of-chain gripper to mate with die mounted handles
die transfer speed: fixed at approx 10 fpm extending and retracting
die transfer controls: extend/retract and grab/release via momentary pushbuttons on hand-held
pendant controller allows excellent visibility of die transfers
interlocks: chain must be fully retracted prior to rail car movement
shot pin must be extended prior to push/pull chain functioning
car travel pinch points: SCMP to provide fencing and barriers to prohibit personnel access
at coil feeder, column, push/pull, bolster extensions and Wayne Trail unit
car to floor clearance: 1
die stops: on push/pull side: fixed to retain 84 F-B, removable for 72 and 60 dies
on press side: removable pins for 84, 72, and 60 F-B dies
die alignment: left & right guides to center die on each station (assumes std. L-R size)
die guides: fixed guide bars on either side of each station on the car
deck size: approx. 300" L-R X 72" F-B
car size: approx. 336 L-R X 87 F-B at chain guide are for die stop pin sockets
floor rail: 70 total of modular sections of approx. 56 track gauge flat bar rails for
installation flush with the finished floor one rail allows dual flanged
wheels, the other supports the flat wheels (no groove for flanges)
rail support structure: leveling and grouting provisions provided with sections
paint: standard Regal Yellow industrial enamel over primer
documentation: excavation drawing in 10 days ARO, mechanical approval drawing prior
to build, rail installation drawings and rail car installation drawings three
(3) weeks prior to shipment of these items, three (3) copies of GVMI spec
manuals following all as-built changes
engineering support: start-up assistance and training of operators from 2 shifts (2 days total)
