http://trainwreckpolitics.com - Former Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee defends Barack Obama's handling of the Reverend Wright controversy, but also adds from his perspective as a former pastor that conservatives shouldn't be so quick to judge Jeremiah Wright either:

"Sermons, after all, are rarely written word for word by pastors like Rev. Wright, who are delivering them extemporaneously, and caught up in the emotion of the moment. There are things that sometimes get said, that if you put them on paper and looked at them in print, you'd say 'Well, I didn't mean to say it quite like that."

...

"As easy as it is for those of us who are white to look back and say 'That's a terrible statement!' ... I grew up in a very segregated South. And I think that you have to cut some slack — and I'm gonna be probably the only conservative in America who's gonna say something like this, but I'm just tellin' you — we've gotta cut some slack to people who grew up being called names, being told you have to sit in the balcony when you go to the movie, you have to go to the back door to go into the restaurant..."

Gov. Huckabee never tries to push his religion on anyone but it gives him a solid moral foundation that is necessary in a leader. He was voted one of the 5 best govs. in the US and he has visionary ideas for our country. Read his new book "Do The Right Thing" and you will be quite impressed.

He shows that you can be a Republican and not subscribe to every latest silly talking point from talk radio blockheads. It was very sad to see McCain feel unable to stand up to the poisonous element within the Republican Party, because (as we saw with Bachmann's awful Muslim brotherhood tirade recently) I think we all know he doesn't agree with them, and I think its no coincidence that his daughter suggested she might leave the GOP. Somehow, I think that Huckabee wouldn't have behaved that way.

I'm not from Arkansas, I'm not even American and I am definitely not a conservative - but if I had been a voter when Huckabee was running for Governor there, I would have seriously considered putting a cross in the box next to his name. This video shows why he got 49% of the African American vote when he ran for Governor. The GOP could use more Huckabees and fewer Arpaios - He's someone who shows that you can be a conservative with beliefs founded on love for others and not on hate.

This is why i love this guy and why i voted for him. Had he been the republican nominee we would have had a better chance. i think McCain deserves alot of respect for being a war vet amongst other things but that doesnt make you a President. Its unfortunate Huckabee wont run but if he did i would love to see him paired up with Marcos Rubio. Thats my dream ticket.
