Bumpy landing and approach into a snowy Cleveland Hopkins International Airport on a Continental Airlines Boeing 737-900ER coming from Houston-IAH. No reverse thrust but the pilot sure did slam on the brakes!

  • OMG why is there do reverse?

  • @chadtheweatherguy i guess the plane was going slow enough just to use the speed brakes. but i was surprised they used no reverse thrust though

  • Yeah I could tell he put a little extra speed on it especially from 3:38 to about 3:40...Great vid btw ; )

  • @xMcQueenandSallyx Thanks for the comment!

  • The pilot brought that plane in fast!!! Nice video!! :)

  • @debarthepilot Thank you very much! The crosswinds probably had something to do with it

  • I flew from Chicago to Houston where a Continental captain did the same thing.

  • @chadtheweatherguy On such occasional days like this, where there is a strong headwind, there is no need for reverse thrust . Headwind also makes smoother landings too.

  • @chadtheweatherguy Believe it or not, there was no reverse because the company that supplies the brakes to Continental agreed to a unlimited supply of brakes at a certain (yearly) price. So Continental decided not to use reverse (unless really necessary) to save fuel. They don't care that it burns up the brakes.

  • I love you cleveland!!!

  • @96texan also, the terminals are at the end of the runways 6 L/R, so pilots may have wanted to minimize taxi

  • One reverser might have been MELed, in which case, on a slippery runway, they don't use reversers at all on landing.

  • @chadtheweatherguy I think the ER's have a somewhat strengthened braking system, for conditions like that, enabling it to stop on brakes and speed brakes alone but it was snowing so you would think he would slam on the TR's.

  • @MrFlyGamer Lol you can tell that kids from Houston!
