That is so cool! I had the idea of doing something like this, but you have already done an exceptional job! Good stuff.

@justinMahon do wheelchair-bound blind people use canes?
-
@jyyne Can you actually see something though? I presume no one who actually WATCHES YT videos is totally blind... If you want to imagine my Sundays, imagine an Asperger's Syndrome computer techie that uses a blindfold and cane because his visual cues "bother" him on Sundays. He keeps wanting to peek, he keeps resisting the urge. It all breaks at midnight, when I need to take the blindfold off, because I cannot tell if it is day or night blindfolded. Also, what is your life like in terms of ease?

I've been blind since birth. It probably would have been a lot easier if you had a longer cane. This was an interesting video. Were people overall generally more helpful than they would be usually? Did you have people that totally ignored you or people who spoke through the person you were with instead of directly to you? That can be really annoying!

well done,
i have been visually impaired all my life but i have very little sight. i use a white cane and find the world a scary place.
you say you thought it was interesting but its scary. but when you have it and it cant be fixed you have to live with it.
i would much prefer to be totally blind, i would find it easyer to tell people and not as much hassel with my eyes. not like this current state
well done, i think more people should try to do it

I guess most people who have found there way to your video googled it because they've thought about it. You actions are inspiring and are a reflection of how lucky we are and how we should strive to do good.

i found this video cause i just did this exact same thing today. 24 hours of not seeing. so i was curious if anybody else did it. anyways it was so weird when i took the blindfold (dish rag) off my face. everthing was bulging in and out and i couldn't focus. So weird

People who lose their sight get training in braille, orientation and mobility, daily living skills, technology, etc. Plus, it's rare for people to go blind in an instant, most lose their vision over months or years.
An experiment like this could be interesting, as long as you recognize that it doesn't teach you much about blindness, other than perhaps that it's harder/scarier than it really is. (I'm legally blind, in case you're wondering.)
very cool. i am disabled (in a wheelchair) and i have a good friend who is blind as well as one who is deaf-blind. are you going to do other videos as someone who is deaf or in a wheelchair or something? if you do please let me know.

weberk,
This sounds like a great idea, thanks for feedback, perhaps I will make this the focus of my next film.
