See Scripps.org/ana for more. As many as 100,000 Americans suffer from neurofibromatosis, often inaccurately identified as "Elephant Man's Disease". Many of them live a life of isolation, afraid of showing their deformities to the outside world. But thanks to the generosity of Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla and a team of gifted surgeons, a young woman has a new look, and a new outlook on life.

  • @MsEliteGirl18 Every human who is a good living, caring human - and not a murderer, control freak, peaodophile, drunken driver etc - should never ever be shunned by other humans - under all of us is a skeleton - bones - just skin, bones, amazing eyes that allow us to see - amazing bodies that give us that one chance at life - as mine is drawing to a close and my eyesight growing weaker due to a hit to the head as a child I say screw those that insult rather than see real beauty.

  • It's great that she's got help and all and its a major improvement but I can't help but think it may never be enough for her. With all these improvements, she's been given hope, she's closest to being normal like she's never felt before in her life, I hope she will not be disappointed, it can only go so far.
