This is an issue that I have found to be common in the area I live in. I wanted to make this video to address it and have people understand that we are not different or have changed we are simply adhering to our religion.
you know what i tell my fam. look at virgin mary she wore a veil. look at the old latinas who go to church and cover there hair and the nuns. always works especially virgin mary.
Salaams sis and may I say first off Bravo! this is so true! my mothers side of the family is puerto rican and cuban and when i decided to convert and then when i made the decision to marry my husband all heck broke lose! ITs ok now but when i go out hispanic people assume im arab and when i speak spanish they are like OM! and i catch alot of people saying mean things that way. I work right outside spanish harlem so it happens often people stare or dont want to sit by me but i usually just smile!
Asalamu aleikoum, you look so beautiful sister, and its true many of the people I know have told me that I can not be Muslim because I am Mexican and that the man force us to wear the hijab. But like you I always try to educate them a little :)
People need to get educated about Religions. Every person needs to read Qu'ran and Bible and other religious materials in order to be considered an educated person. Or at least people need to educate themselves, open their mind. It's really shocking to me that people don't know such simple things. I love it how respectful you are and how you're willing to explain and educate people around you. You are a beautiful person. Lots of love and blessings of Allah to you and your family. BLESSINGS. XOXO
I know what you mean.. People out there just have this small thing called "arrogance." With this arrogance, they think they can neglect knowledge even when it comes to them. So they try to convince you that you're weird. Granted there are good people out there that just don't know.
