I don't get this. I've been natural since 1981 and no one gave a damn back then. What's the deal now?

I'm so glad I came across this video! Although I totally agree w/ what u are saying, I've realized I haven't acted accordingly. I've been transitioning during my 2nd year of business school & planned to BC after I got a job. I noticed that blk folk are the ones critical about our hair, no one else. My classmates always compliment my hair and I am the only black woman in my classes. It may be more of an issue to us bc it's new to us. If they cannot accept my hair then that is not the job for me.

This is great. Honestly, I have decided to wear my hair natural in an upcoming interview. I love my hair both ways. I think I look great both ways. BUT, I don't want to present a false image during the interview. I want them to see all that I am.

If your going to go natural you should find a hairstyle like sisterlocks, bantu knots, ect because a afro maybe taken as your not serious however these are my opinions.

Omg I am tempted to make a natural hair Video now because now that I am strongly thinking of cutting off of my permed hair tomorrow and I have filled out many job applications and I'm wondering if I should worry if I land an interview because of my hair.

I just went on a job interview today and had the same train of thought. I just pinned my hair back and wore a headband with my hair curly and I did not regret it at all. I wanted to look up videos on opinions before i went but I decided to just go for it! I find out if I got the job tomorrow, and I think the interview went really well.

Thank you for this video. It was just what I needed. Been natural since April 2010. It's been a great experience for me personally but a bit heartbreaking to see people's perception of me change because of my hair especially people I care for. Anyway, I just want my hair to be healthy in the end.

I didnt realize that being natural was a fashion statement. I recently BCed Aug 21 of 2010 and i love it!!!! How can being natural not be fashion...Why are we sending the message that beauty is only in being something that we are not. Being comfortable in your skin is the most beautiful thing in the world and if you are confident enough to do then then THtATS BEAUTY! Why are we so negative on ourself. If we can't accept natural hair ..why should anyone else.?

I think natural hair for a black woman looked good in 1970, not now, just not in fashion anymore

@NadrianATRS I would have to disagree. Natural hair if very much in fashion. You see it more and more on the run way, magazine covers, trendy singers and actresses are wearing their natural. Thanks you for watching.

I don't do natural hair because of the conservative work environment i work in. More power to you for not giving a damn. Wish I had your confidence

I understand. It took me forever to go natural for that reason (and others).

I have a job interview tuesday and I am natural. I am a little nervous because it is a professional conservative job that requires a college degree. But I think I will be ok. My sister in law just got a job as a registered surgury nurse. She wears her hair in a fro and two strand twists to work. Also I think that natural hair is excepted a little more now. I noticed a lot lately on tv the african american women are natural.
