(Off The Shelf) Lets Play Gothic (1) Welcome to the Colony!

Hello everyone and welcome to my very first video of Lets Play Gothic. Here is some information about the game before I actually talk about some questions that many people will ask. Gothic 1 was first released in 2001 by the German company, Piranha Bytes. It is the first installment in the Gothic series (of which there are 3 games, 1 addon and 1 expansion pack), and is considered by many, along with Gothic 2 to be the greatest RPG in existance. The game is unbelievably popular in European countries, but in Western countries, it is almost unexistant (I know this because I live in Australia).

Now here are some questions many people would probably ask, in other words, this is an FAQ:

- What recording program do you use, and what do you use to edit the videos and save them?
- I use Fraps to record most videos and most of the time I use Windows Movie Maker to save them. However, as you many have already known, I use Camtasia to record videos of IWBTG as Fraps doesn't seem to record 2-D games. I also use Camtasia to edit out videos and save videos, as at times WMM doesn't save fast enough (100 minutes to save a 10 min long Gothic 2 vid).

- What the **** does off the shelf mean?
- Off The Shelf is a type of LP that I believe the user Skorch82 (also an LPer, a very good LPer might I add. I suggest watching his Deus Ex LP, great stuff) had created, in which the LPer has played the game before (even completed it) but remembers almost nothing, or didn't even explore the world. Hence, it is not a blind run since you have played the game, but you know very little off the game for it to be a normal run, hence, it is Off The Shelf.

- Where can I download this game?
- Don't. This is one of the only games I suggest you don't download. You won't regret it. This game is mindblowing, in fact, english players, I suggest if you buy this game, buy it in German or Russian, and use an English subtitle patch and then play it. However if you find that too difficult, buy the english version. Though if you really want to download the game, there are I believe many downloads on the internet.

I don't make a new video every day. If you haven't (and I assume not many people have) noticed, episodes are around 40 minutes long or more, hence, I don't need to make a new vid every day. But I go to school in Year 10, and I do this as a hobby.

best rpg ever created. the immersion back then was incredible. such a believable, beautifull, yet dangerous world. you can really tell that the devs made the wolrd totaly by hand, no computer generated lifeless world

@scooterpro27 Either check the torrents or you can pick it up off Good old games for around 10 dollars or off Steam for around 20 as part of their Gothic bundle which comes with Gothic 1, 2 w/expansion and Gothic 3
