Buffy broke her leg sliding into homebase. The family tries to cheer her up by bringing the circus into the apartment. But she is still sad. The doctor tells Uncle Bill she is sad because she is in pain.

Anissa Jones (Buffy) had actually broken her leg in real life, on a playground, but the producers wrote it into the script because her part was too important to cut out temporarily.

If you watch the remainder of the episodes of season 4 you'll notice that sometimes her cast is on and sometimes it isn't. It shows you how disjointed their filming schedule was. Because Brian Keith was only available for 13 weeks they shot all of his parts first and then the rest of the scenes. In fact in the episodes prior to this one you'll notice that Buffy is positioned often sitting at a desk or standing behind the couch because they didn't want the viewer to see her cast.

@visor109 No, the service elevator was actually out of order, so they managed to smuggle the baby elephant up in the regular passenger elevator. A gentleman who resided in the building witnessed this and then turned to the camera and said "And they wouldn't even let me keep a little pussy cat."

Yes, jeftis. I'm the same age, and this is one of the first series I remember. Why hasn't it been shown in syndication for a while? It's a good family series as opposed to the garbage that passes for kid's shows today!
