Because this is what I do and how I cope. A quick tribute thrown together with whatever footage I have readily available. Truer words have never been spoken, even if he may never have intended them to refer to himself. The heavens shine brighter now because they've been told to Sparkle Hut. With Pride.

  • He didn't just make his students drum majors he made them better people

  • When I first heard, I was in disbelief. Then I was overly emotional, because I never got to learn from him at DMA, or be a part of the UMASS band, like I had dreamed. But now I know, after so many tears, that I didn't need to be in the band to be taught by him. He taught my Drum Majors, and they passed it down to me. And I'm honored to have been a part of UMASS Band Day. It doesn't matter how important we are to him, he will always be important to us.

  • I still cry every time I watch this video. I wish I had more film of him talking to us. I've never felt so inspired and so proud as the night I stood in front of the camp with the other vets receiving our pins, and he saluted us. We love you Mr. Parks.

  • I'm in UDMB, but I had the honor of being under the direction of Mr. Parks when out bands traveled to Ireland together. You will be missed.

  • This is a great video. I just co-wrote a DM manual for my high school Band, and I relied heavily on George Parks' teaching and starred thoughts. I attended a DMA at Tyler in July, 2008, and his attitude has definitely helped shape my life. I am very thankful for his influence in my life. Do you have any other footage or clips? Thank you!
