  • im not the australian lad in the video but did post the video...not that doing that gives me any credibility, but i actually do know the answer to your question...pulling off the lower leaves will help in adding thickness to the trunk .... so if adding thickness to the trunk is desirable to you--i think it is---then it is beneficial. sufficient warmth is also necessary for doing adding thickness

  • my plant is just 3 inches high...should I transfer it to a bigger pot, if I want it to be abonsai?

  • @jyanisatemybrain

a 3 inch plant will not need a very large pot at all and if you're desire is a bansai then you defineteley dont want a bigger pot. that said, since ii have zero experience with bansai plants and i'll leave it it at that.

the problem with an oversized pot is that it takes longer to dry out then a plant in just the right amount of dirt, sand etc JADE plants especially, as with all succulents, thrive on neglect and prefer the dry soil. the can easily succumb to root rot.

  • how often do you water it

  • @nuttybar9

not very often...wait till the top of the soil is dry. basically that will mean once maybe twice per week during the summer....like a cactus, jades are succulents and thrive on neglect.

  • Excellent! I have a jade plant or should I say a few jade plants all 'stemming' from a plant bought over 30 years ago. Easy care...easy repotting..a very forgiving plant. A few began with my sticking the trimmings in another pot of fresh dirt. As an apartment dweller this is a perfect plant to have in your home. Thank for your video!

  • for a mature indoor jade [3ft tall] would trimming off the lower leaves as u demonstrate be a beneficial thing?

  • awesome dude!

  • Thanks you so much!

  • very helpful - thank you! i hope i can revive my jade plant!!
