Recorded in New York in 1945, as well as Johnson tpt and Bechet sop sax this band Included the very under rated trombonist Sandy Williams, Cliff Jackson pno, Pops Foster bs and Manzie Johnson dms. Great pity this combination didn't record together much more.

  • I love everything the divine Bunk plays but this one is my all time favourite. If time travel were possible I would choose New Orleans of the early 19 hundreds just to hear him play in the flesh.

  • Wouldn't we all?

  • such an awesome recording!

  • Sidney plays clarinet here throughout. And what wonderful tone, completely wood as Duke Ellington said.
