my dog didn't know if she could swim or not, i found out by throwing her in the dugout. Thought i was going to have to save her, but she loved it. She's a purebred border collie. Was a city dog for her first year, but adapted to the farm very well.

can i ask why you take her swimming? Just wondering if there is a reason other than just for fun? I'm thinking of getting a Great Dane as soon as I have a big enough home and wanted to know if its something tats important for them ? (the swimming)

@BlodwenFach - We were doing it just for fun & 'coz Honey was always scared fo swimming in the sea but warm water hydrotherapy is considered good for dogs with arthritis or injuries or just old/lazy/fat dogs who need low impact exercise & rehab. It is very intense: 20mins swimming = 1hr running for the dog. But I know lots of ppl who take their dogs for fun coz water is warm & calm & more inviting than sea for scaredy dog + few places you can get in & swim with your dog. Sea is too cold in NZ!

@catXboy - She's wearing a dog life jacket - it was provided by the hydrotherapy centre for dogs that aren't very experienced swimmers. I think you can buy them online - I know a company called 'Outward Hound' does some.
