  • This is the single greatest performance of, hm, well, just about anything I have seen in quite some time. The word "perfection" doesn't even begin to describe it. She has very easily managed to make me forget pretty much everyone who has ever sung this. Apart from the usual flawless technique we are already accustomed to, she also brings her impecable sence of drama and fills this piece with so much-need emotion. I cannot imagine anyone topping this anytime soon.

  • @lalagonegaga I felt the same when I attend to this concert. The emotion that she transmits was amazing.

See the 'Serse' DVD of 2000, performed in Dresden, with Hallenberg (Arasmene) and Rasmussen (Serse).

  • Hallenberg has a DVD of 'Serse' back in 2000 in which she portrayed Arasmene. She gave a magnificient performance there.

After 10 full years, her singing has not sagged a single jot, but rather progressed even further.

True - the most accomplished baroque coloratura mezzo-soprano of the moment. Even better than big names like Bartoli or Didonato. The latter two are more adept at bel canto than baroque, for sure.

  • Merci mille fois de partager avec nous ces moments d'émotion ! Quel concert ce devait être...

  • @stolof Totally agree with you!

  • Wow, she is an amazing singer, and what temperament!

  • Outstanding! Ann Hallenberg is the best coloratura mezzo at the moment. Thanks for posting.
