  • Well rumor has it that 1! the info you got is mixed by "Carrie Tingly Hospital" on University! I had a Cousin that went to memorial! it is "Haunted as hell! apperently the ghost of a psycho doctor raped and killed kids here! with the chimney building on the left side is where the kids were burned after the slaughters and rapes!

People were molested in there! also, i am trying to figure why it lost business!

  • I was a resident there in the 1992 after being released from the military.. I was transported thru the underground tunnel that runs from the separate garage building on the south east side of the building the one with the smokestack into the elevator room and up to the third floor. I saw and heard things worse than most horror movies. The chimney stack garage room was used to burn the bodies of those who had died from tuberculosis about 25 a day I was told by a doctor Dr James d.c. Jaramillo

  • It wasn't until the 80s when the original elevator was completely sealed off (this was in the south-west corner of the atrium (where the four wings joined together). The new elevator was built in the south-west, where it is in the Hotel today. I heard several ghost stories when I was there, and I was able to feel the spirits and lives of those who had been there before....more-so an empathy than an actual "ghost." The place was in general creepy....considering the historical nature of the bldg.

  • I believe when the railroad bought it, they made the expansions we still see today: the east and west wings were expanded another 50 feet or so (?), the third floor on the north and south wings were added. On the north 3rd floor, I am told was the operating room. On the first floor, south side, was a drive-thru for ambulances and medical transport. This continued through the 80s, but as ambulances got bigger than the 1920s vehicles it was designed for, it got more obsolete....

  • I was a resident at Memorial in 1996 when it was an adolescent treatment facility, and my grandmother was there in the 1980s when it was primarily an adult psychiatric hospital. I had heard ghost stories when I was there. I'd be happy to tell my experience and what I know too. It was originally built as a sanitarium for TB in 1926(?). The dry, warm air of Albuquerque was good for suffers of the lung condition. When TB waned, it was bought as a hospital facility by the AT&SF railroad co....
