I love it... It bring tears to my eyes from the days of living in NYC.... with graffiti all over trains and the burnt out buildings in the background..

Are you saying you've never hard station announcements or doors open on the real subway? MTH capture a lot of the real subway sounds with this and most of their sets.
I have the R27's as well...very nicely made. The opening doors are great but IMHO that's all the R-27's have over this set. Plus the R-27's cost about $300 more and were produced about 4 years later! It should be a better set.

I know what you mean. Maybe one day I'll put in a crappy speaker and rig the lights to blink on and off every now and then!
