This original song was composed by me on SaltSpring Island, British Columbia, Canada while overlooking the Ganges harbor from a mountain top in 1986 on a friend's Casio keyboard. He hated it...wanted me to delete it from his memory bank so he could use his own keyboard. So, in a panic, I recorded it on cassette tape, with 150+ electronic instrument variations. I digitized the tapes around 2002 to preserve them, burned the clips to a CD, and that was all I ever did with it.
After playing the original 30-second clip (anonymously) for a new friend back in April of 2006, he liked it so much that I was inspired to put some of the variations together into an actual instrumental song for him. While working on the mix, the title suddenly came to me...and the lyrics were written that same day,...April 23, 2006...The vocal track was laid down that same evening (it's darn hard to sing!) I sent him the instrumental version, and the lyrics (English and Swedish) but I don't think he ever heard the vocal version...until now. :)
This video came into fruition while I was trying to come up with a topic for my final project in a college video editing class...and one day, while I was working on it, I realized that it was April 23, 2008... :) So, I guess that makes this a 2-year anniversary celebration of my first actual original song.
BTW, my birthday is April Fool's Day...and the friend who inspired me, and who I wrote this for, is also an Aries just a few days away from April Fool's day...and just as silly as I am.
Animation was done using Moviestorm, a currently free machinima program at http://moviestorm.co.uk
Backgrounds and graphics are from the original Digital Juice Editor's Toolkits that are nearly all sold-out now. http://digitaljuice.com
I saw the link from the moviestorm site for this. I think the visuals are very good.
