Adam came up with the idea for the song of fireflies was when he went camping in menisoda and he saw how beautiful they looked and he decided too write a song about it thats what he said in a interview anyways :)

btw, have you heard any of Owl City's other songs? like Vanilla Twilight, Meteor Shower, The Tip of the Ice Berg??? there even more great songs by Owl City, dont judge by just 1 song, and again, Fireflies is about INSOMNIA!!!!

btw, im not bashing or saying anything bad about you, just said you should listen to more of Owl City's stuff and listen closer to Fireflies' lyrics

ive been interested in making paraodies for a long time, how the hell would i do it lol? do you guys make your own melody that sounds similar, or do you find a version with no words and just sing in your own? b/c this sounds almost exacltly as the orginal in some parts
