@karlp17 You're right .. it refers to the newspapers. I've read that Carl Michael Ziehrer once composed a waltz called "Evening Papers", in German "Abendblätter" .. so Johann Strauss II decided to name his waltz in the exact opposite .. they were always competing

In fact it refers to papers as in "newspapers" . Trees do not have blades, they have leaves. Blatt, if I am not mistaken, also means a leaf as in sheet of paper. Perhaps Herr Strauss was waiting for his morning newspaper.

Hi! I love this waltz too, also other waltzes from Strauss father and son. I´m sure that "Morgenblätter" relates to the blades of trees, not papers, My opinion as an austrian!
The englisch title would be "morning blades".

This waltz and the polka mazurka "Lob der Frauen" are, in my opinion, the best works by Strauß (one of my favorite composers).

I love all waltzes composed by the Strausses. But I find it rather bothersome
to recognize the German title of each work; I do not speak or comprehend it.
Anyway, "Morgenblätter" (Morning Paper) is one of my favorite Viennese waltzes.
