I had the privilege of working with Ms Barker many years ago, and I can assure you she rarely sounded muffled - a very powerful voice! Unfortunately many South African artistes and orchestras were not well-recorded, local equipment and technicians often producing a rather muddy sound.

She has some fantastic notes around the passagio but some of the upper lower notes sounds muffled-pity!
